Other Services

Airport pickup

Many transport options are available for getting to and from the  Airport. We have a number of bus, shuttle and taxi services which can pick you up from the terminal forecourts.

We recommend travellers allow plenty of time when travelling to and from the airport to allow for any delays and ensure you arrive at least three hours before your international flight or one hour before your domestic flight.

Tell us if you would like to request an airport pick-up. You will need to inform our Offices in India and New Zealand about airport pick-ups well in advance by sending scanned copy of air-tickets with passport and visa details.

Student Accomodation

Many students live on campus in Halls of Residence, while others opt for a homestay with a local family, or live with friends in a rented 'flat' (apartment/house).

There are several options for student accommodation in New Zealand.

Medical & Travel insurance

Student Visa holders must have ‘acceptable insurance’ in place from their enrolment date until the expiry of their Student Visa, unless they depart New Zealand earlier.

Acceptable Insurance INZ defines ‘Acceptable Insurance’ as an insurance policy that complies with the insurance requirements of the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of international Students and is acceptable to the Education Provider.

Student Visas

A student visa is a special endorsement that is added to a passport that Immigration New Zealand issues to students who are enrolled at Qualified Educational Institutions.

Student visas are non-immigrant visas do not require the holder to obtain citizenship. Any prospective student seeking higher education in another country must obtain a student visa for that country in order to enter the borders of that country.

Appeals

A person who has had a residence visa declined or been issued with a deportation order can appeal to Immigration and Protection Tribunal on the facts and humanitarian grounds.

The Tribunal accepts an appeal against liability for deportation on humanitarian grounds only where it is satisfied that:

  • there are exceptional circumstances of a humanitarian nature that would make it unjust or unduly harsh for the appellant to be deported from New Zealand; and
  • it would not in all the circumstances be contrary to the public interest to allow the appellant to remain in New Zealand.

Citizenship

Obtaining New Zealand Permanent Residence provides a person with the right to remain living indefinitely in New Zealand with access to all the normal work, business, education, property and health privileges available to New Zealanders

However, New Zealand Citizenship is required to travel on a New Zealand passport, for employment in some public service or Government positions, in order to purchase particular rural and coastal property or to represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games or other international events.
